Trinity Evangelical Lutheran in Boonsboro is very pleased to announce that our congregation has a new pastor, Rev. Karl Muhlbach. Our congregation voted overwhelmingly in favor of Karl during a special meeting held Sunday Nov. 8th.
Pastor Karl graduated with a Master in Divinity from United Lutheran Seminary (formerly Lutheran
“Pastor Karl has had significant involvement with youth programs and we are extremely happy for our youth group to benefit from that experience,” said Council President Kim Nally. “We are also excited for his compassion and eagerness to serve the spiritual needs of our entire congregation, including our home and nursing home-bound members. Trinity has a number of important outreach efforts that serve our community and Pastor Karl’s orientation to service will be a perfect fit for helping us continue and grow those efforts. Trinity thanks God for His guiding hand to bring us Karl and continue to pray for the future ahead.”
Trinity is also very grateful for the leadership and friendship of Pastor Ron Schlak, who served as interim pastor while Trinity searched for a new pastor. Besides all of his wonderful personal and pastoral qualities, it was through his faithful service that Trinity was able to continue both worship services and Christian education efforts without interruption during the pandemic. He will certainly be missed at Trinity.

Bio
Pastor Karl Muhlbach recevied his undergraduate degree from Towson University in Human and Family Services and was involved in the Lutheran Campus Ministry. After college, Pastor Karl spent a year in Chicago through Lutheran Volunteer Corps serving at a non-profit focused on sports, health and leadership with youth.
Before starting seminary, he also worked as Associate Director at Mar-Lu-Ridge, the Lutheran outdoor ministry and retreat center.
In recent years Pastor Karl served as an adult mentor for the DE-MD Synod’s Lutheran Youth Organization (LYO) and helped start a synod-wide young adult ministry called Practice Discipleship. He still enjoys exploring woods through hiking and camping, as well as team sports, playing board games, reading and watching TV. He and Caitlin enjoy eating lots of ice cream and taking walks as a family.
He and his spouse, Caitlin, have been married for three years and have an a son named Patrick. Growing up, he was involved in scouts, went camping, church and youth group, and played a variety of team sports.
